Title: TD4-clicking noise coming from front
Post by: circusace on November 16, 2005, 10:54:36
Hi,
I have an 02 TD4 LWB, recently when I start to accelerate at slow speeds or from a stop, I have been getting a click coming from under neath the front, seems mostly to be coming from directly under the radio bit of the dash, but sometimes on one side, eg near the front wheel. A friend of mine who used to be in the mech trade years ago heard it, and suggested it was probably the front drive train had a small bit of play in it, and wasn't hugely serious.

Has anyone else had a similar problem/experience? is it easy to rectify?
Mine is fully LR serviced at the mo, and due another service at the begining of next year, shall I wait until then before sorting it?

Would be interested in any opinions or help!
Cheers!

No ! take it right in now for LR to listen to it .. the IRD unit is right under there, and the pinion on that is known to wear on early ones at least. If it's nothing then you've not lost anything, but if they think it's serious then at least they'll sort it under warranty ASAP.

Cheers

Thanks for that, my warranty has already run out, balls! Or was it a recall or something that I can get done for free, sounds bloody expensive otherwise! Help!

Thanks again!
