Opie Oils are pleased to announce that we are now stocking a considerable range of Amsoil Synthetic Oil products. Whether you're looking to service your daily driver with a top quality lubricant, or taking your modified vehicle on track, and need something to offer extremely high levels of protection, then there is an Amsoil product for you!

For those of you that are new to Amsoil products, they are a brand with a rich history in motorsports, and a huge name over in the States. Sponsoring massive American events such as the Grand National Cross Country, the official oil in the AMA Supercross Championship and sponsor for the International Hot Rod Association, you can see why they're trusted time and time again by motoring enthusiasts accross the world.
Amsoil was founded by Albert J. Amatuzio, a former jet fighter pilot who had conducted research on synthetic engine oils in the early 1960s. After several years of in depth study, Amsoil then formulated synthetic oils for other applications, including specialised vehicles and severe operating conditions. The breakthrough came in 1972, when they developed the worlds first fully synthetic motor oil to meet API service requirements - you can now see why they are so popular in the world of race, rally and track driving, as they were designed from the ground up to offer outstanding levels of protection, even under the harshest conditions.

Opies have an array of quality Amsoil products on the shelf and ready to go, and don't forget that you can get 10% off everything with your forum discount code! I finished the job and it runs fine.  What I discovered is that the timing mark should line up before you tension the belt, as you tension it the timing mark may drift out slightly and this is normal.  Once tensioned the timing gear should then be slightly anti clockwise.  mine was about a quarter of a tooth but he last one I did was nearer half a tooth.

I've never been able to find out how the timing is set on the camshaft pulley.  It is adjustable but no manual I've seen has the procedure.

Discovery / Re: ACE dashboard light
« Last post by Range Rover Blues on June 11, 2017, 01:13:53 »
Hi Ron.  I don't know a lot about the ACE but it has a hydraulic system to interact with the anti roll (sway) bars in addition to the rear air suspension.

You'll probably need a code reader to interrogate the ECU and find out what the problem is.

There may be a dedicated plug in reader available like the ones offered for my RRC, I think they were refered to as a "kicker" because they were used to reset the ECU fault codes but not reprogram them.

I do remember that on the Disco2 active suspension you can't program the rear height either, you have to set the current height as the default.  One possibility is that the ECU can't get the rear end back to the correct or default height, possibly because you have loaded the rear end?

Have the load height sensors been removed?

Discovery / ACE dashboard light
« Last post by Range Rover Ron on May 14, 2017, 21:25:03 »
I've not long got a D2, 2002 vintage. I've had the amber ACE light on the dashboard come and go in the weeks since I've had it. now the amber light has turned to red. I've looked through the owners handbook and it says to take it to an expert and do not drive. Anyone understand what is going on? The Disco has had the air bags changed for springs by a previous owner. It's a greenlaner. Cheers.

Workshop Articles / Re: 300TDI Cambelt Change Step By Step With Pics
« Last post by Range Rover Blues on April 30, 2017, 21:18:10 »
As I'm doing yet another one, long story  I thought I'd check something.

Assuming anyone ever finds this, when you line up the cam belt pulley, there's a mark on the pulley and the casing right?  well once the belt is tensioned this doesn't line up.  It was the same last time I did one of these but I'd had the chance to mark it with paint before I started, sadly this time the belt broke .

As it looks to be half a tooth out, do I advance it or retard it?
