My Disco currently has the early style small headlamps and grille, and I am wondering if the '95 onwards 300 series larger headlamps can be fitted, or the smoked TD5 style ones? Obviously the grille, trims and indicators will be needed too, but is there any cutting/drilling needed or do they fit in the same holes, and does the bumper need changing?
I believe there are kits for this but the one I saw was £250 which is a bit steep for my pockets...
Thanks

8) earley discos & td5's are slightly different shapes at the front end, 2003 lights can be fitted on earlier td5's but you may have to cut some body away, ive put 2003 into a 2001 but change the front panel ,bumper & grill,
hope this helps, john.

Simple answer is yes to both, do a search on this forum in the Discovery section because it has been covered before.
200 - 300 is the most common, but you can update 200's to TD5 lights it has been done.

I think the series 2 lights look well smart on a 200
:D

Thanks for the link, I had read that topic already actually, but had missed the bit about the slam panels being different on the later cars. That may be the only big stumbling block, nothing a bit of duct tape and mdf can't sort (joking, honest  )
DLS are selling clear indicators and the smoked TD5 style lights for not that much cash so I may take the plunge and buy some, just need a grille and trims and a bit of dutch courage to get stuck in :D :D
DLS ebay shop has these:

Should look pretty good, just need to crack on now...

Looks very nice :D

200 and proud
Leave the lights alone [-X
Step away from the lights =;
Nothing to see here 8)
not with 200 head lights anyway

Best thing to do is stick with the original front and get some super spot lights. That way you wont have to change nothing and you'll spend less (even on a big bright set of spots)
:D

My thoughts exactly.
Been contemplating changing the head lights before now myself. Price, and fitting have always put me off, and after all I like the 200 look.
If I were to change it would be for TD5 lights though.

Super spots are no good to you on poorly lit roads with other cars on it
My 300 headlamps are simply awesome on their own when compares to a 200!
Think I might go for some of those smoked ones and change to clear indicators.

yeah got 100 watt spots on front of me 200 tdi great with them on and main beam but as soon as a car approaches you dipp um,back on to dip beam only its like someone turned every thing off.iff i could do it cheaply id like to uprate the normal lights. i did fit some brighter bulbs ! helped a bit but not enough. bilge rat......

Asked DLS for a price on clear front indicators plus the smoked lenses (not the clear side repeators as I already have them).
The total price is £115.13 inc. postage. Tempting. Would need those special bulbs in the sides to get away from the "fried egg" look.
