Dan, if you're having problems with supply, call your breakdown people they should be able to get some for you.

If I were closer I'd help myself.

Cheers Frank, i know you would mate :D  We will be visiting Keith tomorrow on the way home, so it might be ok til there as it seems to be after a couple of hundred miles the gearbox is getting too hot and then refusing to change gears til its cooled down!

Hi Dan, first of all have you checked the breather pipe is not blocked as it might have something to do with the over heating, as for the colour of your oil it looks like its contaminated so a full oil change is needed,

What oil are you trying to get for it??

Any Halfords should carry ATF...... Or Dextron.

Very strange.  :?

I found some oil for it in the end from halfrauds!

The first time me mother went down as she was heading into town, but the great staff in there said they didnt have any!!  I found some, although it wasnt ATF it said for the manual gearbox.

But hopefully tomorrow i will get it sorted now when i get to northants ;)

Cheers for the help :D

Castrol SMS-X or something like that, it was a 70w85 or sommat like that??? lol, still got no idea!

However we are now home, just, gearbox started going again on the last couple of miles, but for some reason if i bought the Discovery to a complete standstill and moved off from first, it was fine, until i wanted to change down the gears again!

That oil is way too thick for a R380 it may well have taken the oil pump drive gear out which won't help.

Have you lost all the oil again ?

No oil doesn't help the gear change much, the correct oil is MT94 or ATF at a push it's way thinner than 75/80 anyway.

I dont think its lost oil, as when i undid the filler plug on the side to check, stuff just came pouring out, so i would say its full.  I havent put any oil in it yet, as i am going to drain it out first and see just whats in there!
