Title: Help....
Post by: 90sam on December 05, 2006, 16:17:22
Hey all,
Ive just bought myself a discovery and will show you some pictures, when i have ahd chance to get it muddy!! Just a few things i need some advice on! Well... I have a set of amazon mud tyres 255/85R16 and on full lock they rub on the radius arms. Is there any way i can stop this, i dont really have the money for spacers, but someone said i can adjust the steering stops. Is this true? Also i have just foolishly opened the front sunroof and now it wont shut is there any way i can get it to shut, otherwise im going to get rather cold! The Model is a H Reg and is a 3 door - like the older discovery!
Sorry for the essay but im in need of help!
Sam.

Look at the bottom of the swivel housings on each side - from memory I think it's there you'll find a bolt protruding out each side which you can adjust to control the throw of the steering.  Can't pinpoint it exactly off the top of my head but I'm sure somebody else will if you can't find it.

The steering stops are on the front of the swivels and have a bolt and lock nut, just below the swivel filler plug. You adjust the drivers side to stop the passenger side hitting the radius arm and viccy-verky. You will loose some turning circle though.

Sunroof, don't have any so I'm no help on that one.  :(

Ref the roof, have a look around local scrapyards and see if they have any.

not the same tyres sizes as you but I've got 255s on the front of mine and this web thing shows you exactly how to do it, done it with mine yesterday - worked a treat!

  engaging gob before thinking again

Ref the sunrooofs, I was gonna fit them to mine but decided I could without a built in shower . . . . they leak as factory fitments so what they would be like if I fitted them I don't know . . .

I'll have a look in the wokshop tonight, seem to remember they are quite a heavy bit of kit for what they are so would probably have to be sent by carrier . . . . or maybe MC-Express ? I'm in West Yorks, near Wakefield.
