Batteries need replacing, but has always fired up with jump lead(dont use it much as mainly off roader)
But tried to jump it and just clicks starter but doesnt do anything else.
So got wifes paj and tried to jump it off hers(new batteries on this one) still wouldnt do anything, so disconnected my batts. and just used jump batts, still nothing.
Clicks for glow plugs twice but dies on turning key, does have immobiliser fitted. Will get 2 new batts tomorrow but well fed up.
Anybody had same problem?
-
Could it be the starter solenoid? Not sure if it would click tho if that had gone. :?
Hope you get it sorted soon, dont like hearing about poorly paj's!

Well until i get new batteries i cant tell if its something else as well.
I hope not!!! As it will then start to get expensive
-
Sounds like the starter solenoid gone, from what I remember it has a twin coil one to pull it in, the other to give a low voltage to slowly turn the motor before the solenoid is fully engaged. Or else it could be the starter - around £120 new or £35 secondhand
Try shorting across the terminals on the solenoid with a spanner
-
Mudlark doesnt the Pajero have a starter relay box as opposed to a solenoid?
-
No it has the solenoid on top of the starter click (http://mudlark.info/Menus/buttons/StarterButton.gif) (http://mudlark.info/custom.htm) the button for pics
You are probably thinking of the glow plug relay.
-
After seeing the pics of starter motor i hope its just batteries :?

Just a alternative as its been stood for a while try rocking the car back and forward while in gear...
It might just be enough to free the starter and make it work. may need a couple of people on it though to put enough pressure behind it to move enough, :)
