Hi guys, the oil pressure light stays on slightly longer than it should and noticed lately that when pressing the clutch down and releasing the accelerator to freewheel to a junction etc (gotta save fuel) the oil pressure light flashes for a split second, is the early signs of a knackered oil pump or worn bottom end bearings?

Is the oil level correct?

could just be a dodgy oil pressure switch?
Is the oil level correct? When was the last time it had an oil and oil filter change? Is it making any noises (rattling/knocking)?

oil level was good last sunday but does lose a little each week, did wonder if there was a bit of a new noise at 1 point on way home tonight but decided it had dissapeared or i'd imagined it as it went away, so no nothing dramatic. Oil filters last changed approx 3,000 miles ago. Not sure on history of the engine as was fitted in '96 long before I bought her so could have done many miles but seems to have been given regular service.

cost of saving of fuel vs cost of replacing worn out clutch pressure plate due to weakening the spring diaphragm from prolonged use ?
