Title: Wandering Freelander
Post by: Spacemud on November 25, 2007, 22:25:55
Was approached by one of my neighbours today about his Freelander. Unfortunately, he is Polish so it was a three way conversation between me, someone on his mobile who spoke English and Polish, and the Neighbour. If think his 'nom' is Mark - that's how easy it all was

Anyway, down to business - About a month ago the vehicle was trailered home as he had apparently clipped a roundabout. Must have clipped it pretty hard as the alloy was in two pieces! He set about replacing all the bent bits (shocker, etc) and got it back on the road.Trouble is, it now wanders when you get to about 50 and when on full lock there is a rubbing noise. I couldn't see any signs of rubbing, and nothing underneath looks wrong or bent now.

I suggested that he should initially get the tracking done as it was unlikely to be right now, and check the wheel balancing. Has anyone experienced something like this, or has any ideas? There seems to be so many things it could be.

Cheers

If he hit it that hard it needs to go on a proper 4 wheel alignment jig.
