Title: air scoop, lights etc.....
Post by: bravo669 on September 07, 2009, 21:17:39
would a bonnet air scoop look ridiculous on the ol sportrak? just a thought but i think that i could do with getting some more air over the engine as i have a pair of gert spots in front of the radiator.

also im toying with the idea of putting 4 rectangle spot/flood lights or the new 'azimuth' x lights from Xeng (http://www.x-eng.co.uk/X-LiteAZ.asp?MID=4) above the windscreen on the roof. would a dual battery set up be advisable as the current ones a bit rubbish as is or just a heavier duty batt?? hmmm.

any thoughts or advice welcome. :-k

Cheers

Ben

Not sure about the Air scoop, might look tacky, unless you had a nice slim one on the front edge of the bonnet, 2 batteries, unless you are running a winch not really needed just a good main one. Spotlightss on the roof, like the sound of them been thinking about them myself

Looked at xlites decided to go to B&Q and bought some 12volt garden lights (£50 for pack of 4) use the same bulb MR16 although B&Q lights had 20 bulbs as standard they can be upgraded for about a £10 to 55watt as Xlites I believe, they are also sealed unlike xlites so less likely have connector issue.
I was looking for something to try 3watt LED MR16 (unlike the halogens) in although they don't give enough light to drive above about 5 mile an hour they are useful low power lighting for wading particular once the alternator goes below water and stop charging.

if you look carefully there are tiny lamps below the the 4 on the roof

Just a note MR16 bulbs are not 'E' marked  for road use so they shouldn't really be used either on the road or greenlaning (as greenlanes are effectively roads)
