Title: landcruiser,s and hilux pickups

i have had both vehicles and like many of you have been down the LR route in the past. i changed from LR because of it,s unreliable nature and rust. I have had a 54 reg hilux deisel vx 2.4 and the landcruiser colorado vx deisel 3.0 on a w reg. the vx and the older models was the top of the range but to be fair there was not alot of difference in the models. i swear buy toyota and it,s reliable record for abililty and reliabilty. just as capable as landrover and very rarely lets you down. it is easy to mod it  and fuel economy is not much difference to landrover,s. i am looking for another to replace the terrano as the draw of toyota is starting again. they have a habbit of drawing you in....fantastic cars. it is now down to money and the right car. the nissan has done it,s job and been farily good on and off road. pretty reliable , but hard to mod as there are not many options around. but every time i see a toyota i want one all over again. i am saving for one again and hope to have another one soon.

yeah spot on, ive had a 1987 hilux, then a s reg disco that kept dying, now back to 1997 hilux. ive worked outdoors a lot and we all use hilux'. they are a little tricky to mod, but you can try
milners offroad
rough trax
arbil 4x4

Same here...

Had a 1995 300tdi Discovery which I sold as it started to cost me money every week just to keep it going.  The money I spent in 4 years still brings a tear to my eyes when I think about it.

Had a 1990 LJ70 Landcruiser for a year which never blinked and only cost me the diesel to put in it and a full service.
Now have a 1992 Hilux Surf which again has cost nothing but fuel.  Only 2 less MPG than the Disco too so no complaints there either.

I am now deciding which Toyota to base a camping vehicle on.  Easiest and cheapest would be a roof tent on the Hilux.  Fabricate some drawers to house kithcen type things in the boot and away you go...

Or spend some money on a LWB 70 and really go to town!
