could somone tell me i have about 3 grand to spend on a 4x4 which fronty would be best to get id rather a diesel how reliable are they because i will be using it as an everyday driver so need reliability wort sort year am i looking for that sort of money thanks
-
Any one you want for 3K !!
You can get pretty much any engine and any model for under a grand if you look about. IMO the 3.2 V6 on LPG is the one to go for. The 2.2 dti needs a new fuel pump if you run it out of diesel, and the 2.2 petrol is underpowered for the size of truck it is.
With that money you'll be looking at a very late 'b' series and probably over 1/2 of it left over. Ignore the forecourt £1999 for a 2.8 'a', they are taking the [throw it].

Go for a late 2003 or a 2004 2.2DTI it had all the niggles sorted like the fuel pump issues and is pretty well spec'd as it was the end of the line.
Its a shame as they sorted the engine and stopped making them, quite nippy and very car like to drive.
Should get a goodn for 3K ;).
-
so i should be able to get a 2003/4 model sounds good to me is there anything else i should look out for part from the fuel pump
-
The fuel pump wont be an issue on the later models, and they seem to have sorted the dying dash on the later models to, you might get the air bag light on but thats only a loose connector under the passenger seat, just needs cable tying together.
At that age just try and get some service history and most then have never been off road.
Other than that just check the eml engine management light is not on, dont accept excuses, walk away.
-
so theres nothing major to look out for happy days id never buy anything with the engine management light can you drift frontera then if your name is drift
