The roof on my TD5 is steel. I know 'cos there's a magnetic GPS aerial stuck to it

normally the roof panels are ally, but the support for it (most edges) is steel strip or angle. your roof looks like the state of my chassis!!!

As if you havn't got enough to do with the 90

Steel roof??
Thats news to me on a series truck. I'll try and have a look into it. Doesnt sound like a genuine part but Land Rover never fail to suprise us!!!!
-
from over hear its an ally roof with external ribs like the early 90& 110's,only discos have a steel roof cos o them having a 1 piece body shell, rangies aint 1 piece cos u can unbolt the roof!!!

there where some army prototypes that where developed for radio fitment that had a steel roof, have a look at the under carrage it may give you some clues cos the cross members are slightly different to a standard series. keep us informed i am interested to know what the out come is:D

Most def a steel roof, all of it! What are the differences crossmember wise coz she needs a liberal sprinkling of those. Also has some sort of tank under the drivers side wing and fittings at the back for (I think) air braked trailers. Also a vaccum gauge on the dash. Seems to be that the tank on the wing is connected to the inlet manifold not sure what it's all about. She wont get touched for a good six months at the very least. Got other more pressing issues at the mo'
