Hi All,
I'm in the market for a galvo chassi for my D plater S2a, but I am confused. Paddocks sell a replacement chassis from Marsland which 'fits' both s11 and s111, however on Marsland website they have s2 and s3 chassis as separate products, with getting on for £200 diffrence in the prices (and both substantially more than Paddocks charge)
What is the actual difference between the two chassis'? I've heard that S3 chassis were made from thinner steel, but is that the extent of it? I'm unlikely to do much hard-core offroading (a gentle speed bump perhaps ) but then again my S2 drive train looks beefier than the S3s I've seen (possibly I have a military chassis) and I don't want to overload it. Given the money I dont want to end up buying the wrong thing.
Any advice?
cheers
Alan
PS: looking forwards to the Billing show!

as far as I remember the main diff is there are a couple of extra body mountings on the S2 chassis, on the rear outriggers I think, not sure about the 2A. I'd guess that paddocks is generic S3 and the Marsland one will have the mounts.

i was told that paddocks buy in bulk so get them cheaper and mostly buy s3 as thay fit s2/2a also.
the proper s2/2a chassis has a few diffrent bits hear and there for the origanal spec rebuild

Thanks! That sounds close enough for me- time to put in an order I think.

there is also www.designa-chassis.co.uk & there is a guy selling galv bulheads on ebay although don't know what they are like.

designa don't seem to have prices for standar leafer chassis anymore, last i saw they were more than the paddocks ones anyway,
Model specific (right down to the year) are available from richards chassis http://www.richardschassis.co.uk/

A good idea to ask is if they do a removable gearbox cross member on any of them.
It makes it easier I believe,

dont forget early 109's had the fuel tank in the same position as the 88" - later ones were rear mounted!
