Title: Recovery Truck
Post by: Bush Tucker Man on January 24, 2005, 12:31:10
I called in at Rocar-Moores (Huddersfield) this morning & to my surprise & delight, they still have this lovely Series 1 (http://community.webshots.com/photo/170172201/258639424OOQbwj) on the forecourt.
It's looking a bit neglected now (but charactor-ful), as far as I know it's still fully road legal.

What a great Landy!  Would love to own something like that but do it up to concours condition and just show it all the time.

Unfortunatley I like getting muddy too much to even think about neatening mine up to that level - although its not half bad.

There used to be a IIa kitted out as a recovery truck at a garage in our village, sadly it wasn't looked after they had it from new and it was seen out and about daily until recently.
I don't know if they still have it as the bloke seems to be using an old David Brown tractor for shifting cars about the yard and has an old AA truck for road work.
Nice to see one in good condition though.

Hi all

My donor vehicle or one of them anyway was a recovery vehicle it was a 2.6 with a harvey frost on the back not sure how original it was as it looks a bit like a bodge job but my other doner seems to have a 90% good chassie so was thinking of maybe rebuilding the 2.6 onto that and the harvey frost with a truckcab but im using all the 2.6 running gear from the props out on the new bus so it may not come off but I do think there is a feeling of a good old fashioned work horse in the recovery vehicles its a shame so few were made
