Hello,
My Series 3 is rather rusty in the usual places. I see that there are repair sections for all the places but was wondering if its possible to cut out and replace these with the vehicle assembled as opposed to removing the bulkhead and doing a total of chassis refurb.
Obviously a total strip will be better quality and may be a lot easier to work on in the long term, but im thinking that with a degree of care it should be ok to do it in situ and may be less daunting if done a bit at a time.
PS Im welding it myself, im learning to weld an my Landy is my project (dont worry ill practice on some training pieces first and the landy is so chopped about its not going to hurt a classic)
Any experiences of doing this????

Did it on my lightweight, no problem at all -most complex bit is the removal of the brake and clutch pedal assemblies, and that's only because you have to put them back together again :P

its easyer to do it off the vehical but im doing it on cos im too lazy to do a full strip and if you are doing anything on the foot wells or lower bulkhead sections the chassis acts as a jig to keep it relativly true good luck

its easy enuf, im in the middle (still :roll: ) of doing mine, hardest thing is finding time...

if you go the full strip option you end up like me... skint and a landy in bitz, waiting for the arrival of new/fabricated parts, which leaves me nothing to drive in the mean time.
but I guess moving to Cardiff didn't help me their neither as I no longer have easy access to my garage in Brynamman...
