Anybody know the head bolts torque settings for a series 3 2.25L Diesel engine?
-
Usually about 15 ftlb's
then 90 degrees
and another 90 degrees.
But some may say different.
-
90lb.ft for the 1/2in. UNF bolts (head bolts)
18lb.ft for the 5/16in. UNF bolts (rocker shaft)
Make sure the sequence is correct and dont put all the pressure on at once

90 ft/lbs for head bolts is spot on by the book ....Al

RTFM - don't even think about trying head work without the manual, if you torque up or release the head bolts out of sequence you risk knackering your head.

Cheers lads. I have done it....

Came across this site today. You can download complete service manuals and there there's a page in the series III manual with every torque setting you could imagine.

True, I keep thinking a torque wrench may come in handy oneday though!

I've got one, makes a cracking hammer! ;) I'd personaly be more concerned about the tightening order than the torque settings Chris.
