Title: air filter missing a beat
Post by: diff-breaker on December 19, 2005, 21:19:33
fitted a snorkel and now fitted a range rover air filter to change from the oil bath to a paper element air filter. Only problem is that engine now appears to miss a beat and engine "paps" occasionally. Could this be due to the length the air has to travel to get to the air filter , through it and out the other end to the carb ? Any suggestions ?

What  engine do you have ? What is the inside diameter of the snorkel ? Are there any restrictions in the snorkel ? ......O k enough with the questions ... it could be to do with the easier draw through the RR filter....Al

The series diesel engines are known to run crappy when converted to paper element air filters maybe it is becuase of this unless yours is petrol.

Engine is a petrol 2.25. diameter of snorkel is about 2-2.5". If the draw of air is easier throught the RR filter then presumably the length the air has to travel would not effect it ??
