Title: Paint Job
Post by: MattW on August 24, 2005, 01:35:04
Hi All

We'll soon be painting our tatty S3 project vehicle. I can't say I've painted Ally panels before or the underside of a proper offroad vehicle. What would you recommend?

If you are on bare naked metal ;-) use a good etch primer first or you'r efforts will be wasted, if you have no spray gun a good properly used roller I found works well, but the pressure you aply has to be even throughout

I sanded down the bodywork and then used a 5 inch gloss roller with synthetic enamal and turned out like This (http://members.mud-club.com/profiles/Andy%20the%20Landy/gallery/repaint/0)  :D

Thanks guys we have an old spray gun knocking around - I'll make it a learning experience. I checked out the prices on that etch primer - damn that stuffs expensive, now we're just thinking up some imaginative colours - that red looks smary Andy the Landy.

What now for the undersid? I've got some of the chassis to replace at the back. My friend recommends wax oil and other people have said stone chip,,, I havent a clue.
