we took the turbo off my 2.8 turbo engine tonight and it seemed to be connected to the water system. is this right or is it some bodge done by whoever did the conversion?
i thought these engines were unbreakable
thanks in advance

Water cooled is stock iirc.
-
thanks. was a bit shocked when we undid what we thought was an oil pipe andpure water came :)
-
thats all right then we just got to get that stud out now and hopefully the rest should be strait forwould

yeah need to buy some decent pliers on saturday. oh yeah did you mean to leave your deep 12mm socket and that red screwdriver? found a pair of locking plier thingys in my toolbox that made removing those rusty clips easier :)
-
Have fun with 'that' oil return pipe on the bottom of the turbo ;)
-
Do you mean the metal one that runs underneath the turbo? That won't be a problem as I fitted it to the turbo on the workbench and access to the bottom is ecxellent :)
-
Yeah - it's a [!Expletive Deleted!] to get on when the turbo is in place. good call doing on the bench.
-
would like to say i planned it but it just sort of happened :) but when we took it off the 3.1 engine the oilfilter was in the way of the bottom of the pipe so had to take it off at the turbo(hope that makes sense), 1 nut was fine but to do the seocond one we had to use a socket that fits on a screwdriver. having soaked the nuts and bolts on both turbos in wd40 2 months ago certainley made things easier :)

Yeah that's the [!Expletive Deleted!] - you can use an (8mm is it) goose neck spanner and that clears the tubo, it it's a flat at a time...
-
you really dont like that pipe do you
-
lol, na that [!Expletive Deleted!] is a [!Expletive Deleted!] [!Expletive Deleted!] [!Expletive Deleted!] [!Expletive Deleted!]
