Title: Freelander 2
Post by: Snooky on February 06, 2010, 16:23:31
Looking at a freelander 2 as the next car and like the LTD edition they are doing as in the right price bracket, but the big question, is it worth paying the extra for the Terrain response stuff, or will it do most lanes etc without the need for all the extra gadgettry?

If it will do snow and ice and basic lanes etc without the need to tell it what ground I am on then won't sped the extra £5k to have it

To be honest i'd say it's not worth it,i run the FL1 and it's not let me down once although i do have AT2's on. Personally i'd save the money and spend on tyres and toys, cheers Andy.

The TR starts with the GS meaning the S and LTD edition don't have it  :?

I'm not buying new but I have been asking myself the same question when looking at second hand FL2's. I have decided to look for something with the TR as I would hate to be in a situation where I'm thinking I wonder what would happen if I had TR!!

Hiya

Sorry to ressurect an old(ish) post and hope that this is still relevant... or at least of use to someone!

We have a F2 that is nearing 3 years old - originally bought for the Fun Prevention Officer with a view to her being able to cart around the country and tow a horse trailer periodically.

As is the way with such things, she has been in and out of wet fields, ruts, long wet grass and, of course, the snow that we had last winter... the TR coped with everything we asked of it.

This included a hill start on long wet grass, on 95% road biased tyres with two ponies in the 'box... probably getting rather close to the 2 tonne mark!!  [-X

The chap with the tractor who was earning a few quid here and there for towing people out was most miffed...

In my mind, worth every penny although some might argue that 'standard' four wheel drive would also have been good enough.

Hope this helps

I'll 2nd the comments above
If you are going FL2 - and are going to be using off-road in any form - go for TR
It's a different animal to TC on a Freelander 1 as the drivetrains are totally different
