Title: RRC diff lock problem
Post by: mark.yellow.series.3 on May 13, 2007, 19:26:20
i have an LT95 box  shoe horned into my battle wagon. but just recently ( and its got worse over the last couple of months) the diff lock light comes on really dim when driving, and gets brighter if i leave it. to clear it i would flick the switch to engage diff lock, and then disengage it again, then the light would go out. but now when i do that the light seems to come back on almost straight away.

does it ring any bells anyone.

cheers
mark.

Please note this is an educated guess

The switch for the light should be either on or off, therefore if the light is coming on dim its going to be either a doddgy switch of a short circuit in the wireing. These would be were I look to first for a fault

Is it just the light that comes on of its own accord or is the diff locking as well?

defo not the wiring, (i rewired it all last year) :D
now the switch does work, as when you put in diff lock the light comes on bright, and when you take it out the light goes out. but when your driving it slowly starts to come on, dim at first and slowly getting brighter, but not to full brightness. almost as if the mechinism is creeping just to the point of the switch erm switching, instead of being held at one end of its travel or the other by the diaphram accuator thing.

but iam not sure if it accually locks the diff as when the light starts to come on iam driving.
i think i need to jack up the front end when the light starts to come on and see if it is locked or not.

iam thinking of binning the vacuum system adn fitting a linkage of some sort.
