Title: 300TDI viscus fan coupling
Post by: Welshbreed on January 27, 2013, 17:32:26
Anyone know what size spanner I need? I know its a lefty thread and awkward to get to but what size do I need, I believe 32mm?

Also anyone got any dimensions for the flywheel locking pin for either fueling options on the 300tdi engine, or are they different part numbers, but the same tool?

Thanks in advance

32mm for the hub spanner and i think 8mm for the injector pump locking tool, not sure on the flywheel.

Thanks man. I bought a Laser spanner with both the 32 and 36 mil heads. 32 worked a tread and managed to do my mates 300TDI engine timing belt, turns out college had one, but now so do I :)

First TDI engine I've worked on. Who need's specialist tools? Just a bit of ingenuity and no concrete deadline (took 4 hours longer than I thought it would) Just drove it home for my mate to pick up tomorrow... runs sweet.

THe Fuel pump requires 9.5MM bar  i usually use the back of a drill bit, you can create a flywheel locking tool by driiling through the centre of a blanking plug with a 3/16th drill bit. hope this helps.

No need to lock the flywheel. There's an arrow on the rear timing case, and as long as the woodruff key's are in line with it, then the timing of the crank is set. Once the belt is fitted - turn the crank twice in a clockwise direction to the timing marks - check all, and adjust as necessary.
