Title: Changing Brake Fluid on Disco II
Post by: Mud_Medic on June 02, 2008, 08:39:03
Hi Guys

The brakes on the disco are getting a bit soft, so it is time to change the brake fluid..

I looks on RAVE, and the first thing it says is "connect test book"   :x

Now, I don't have Test book. Bleeding the brakes is not a problem, but changing in oil in the ABS looks like it may be.

Anyone got any ideas, or doesn't it mater that the oil in the ABS unit doesn't get changed? (will it eventually mix with the new stuff and not cause a problem)

Many thanks

Ed

our u sure its the fluid need changing , most of the time with brakes its just low on fluid or air in the system. ive never had a problem with fluid b4 just worn out pads .

with abs it may be an electric fault somewhere not applying all the brakes even

to blead the brakes on a disco 2 you have to operate the ABS pump to push the fluid out, thats why it  uses the "test book" to do this operation, also where is the oil in the ABS unit, i ask this because i have never come across an ABS pump that uses oil to lubricate it ( have really only worked on Fiat ABS but i have dabbled in a few others), they normally use the brake fluid.
