Hi folks,
My p38 had a battery problem recently found out it was dead so now have a new one.
Now it starts ok when cold and runs fine until I want to move, then there's no tickover. Take me foot off the throttle and it just stops. Starts again ok but will not run on its own. Got no diagnostic readers so may have to pay out to plug it in somewhere.
Anything advice/help greatly received
Probably should say I managed to break o/s rear quarter glass whilst mowing me lawn  but have now replaced this and reconnected various wires aerial etc.
Cheers

I had this happen when I had mine. Turned out to be a leak in one of the air hoses on the rocker cover.
Worth checking before you get all exotic with diagnostics.

mine idles just fine until i put into gear or turn steering then the revs drop too low so the engine stalls
dont do it all the time but anoying ,could this be the same prob or any other ideas would be helpfull
thanks

If it's auto the engine ECU knows when you put it into gear, you can check this with a meter but you need a wiring diagram.

You really need to get the ecu checked first and also perhaps have the base idle set but this needs a diagnostic machine textbook or similar to do it

Don't know for sure on the p38 but you don't need anything to set base idle because by definition it's the idle speed without any EFi interference.
Check all hoses, breathers and rocker gaskets etc, check the charcoal canister too and the tank breather.
