Title: Series 2.25 starter motor - diesel/petrol
Post by: Disco_Dennis on June 10, 2009, 13:15:37
Hi all.

Can anyone tell me if the starter motor from a diesel 2.25 can be used on a petrol 2.25?  :?

The one I have on the petrol is on its way out,  :'(  but I have a 2.25 diesel engine here (knackered!) with a good starter motor.  :)

I know the petrol has an inertia starter and the diesel is a pre-engaged type - but are they transferable?

I'm pretty sure they are the same flywheel  [-o< - and therefore they should be interchangable?  :-k

I could just bolt it on - but I don't want to go and screw up my flywheel if it's wrong!

Anyway - does anyone know for sure?

Cheers...
Den.

So a starter from any 2.25 or 2.5 will work fine, then?

Thanks for the info.
