Post by: bodgeitjo on October 23, 2011, 18:26:48
hi guys while out playing today i snapped one of the rear shocks it also bent the anti roll bar bracket on the chassie. my  main queiry is whats the pros and cons of removing the roll bar totally and if while im at it give it a +2 lift how does this affect the rollbar.  oh yes its a 110 csw.        cheers  jo

broardly speaking the +2 lift will use heavier springs most likely rather than longer but not all do, this will stiffen the ride anyway and so it would be debatable that you would notice the lack of anti roll bars. that said if you were to overland it with roof tents and a tonne of other kit you really would want the bars back on. horses for courses.

With a lift you need to think about spacing the ARB anyway, use towball spacers

If it's bent then a bottle jack will sort it out, check for cracks though as you don't want it failing.

A lift will be stiffer and if you only lift the back then removing the ARB might help maintain the balance in handling, stiffer springs tend to lead to drifting on that axle.  A matter of taste for most people.
