Not illegal but they would break under the wheels :lol:

You can drive on sidelights if you want, not illegal but at night unless the lighting is really good,  its headlights

If it was illegal, there's a lot of volvos out there that are

as for the LED's the boy racer I brought it off had them fitted as indicators, so  have 4 clear lenses on the front as the LED's are orange.. as for illegal to drive on sidelight, not going to drive on them, but when laning its nice sometimes when its getting dark to switch dipped off so the guy in front doesnt get blinded - but with the 5 watts in i couldnt see jack...so at least with the 21's in i should still have an idea where im going!
going to upgrade the headlights to halogens soon, as i have seen the ones i want, with the led 'halo' £39 a set.bling bling :D

No it doesn't. I've been running 21 watt sidelights for years and they've never melted a lens.

halogen do have a down side when laning, if you dont seal the cable/plug they fill with water......and you cant clean the inside! I will go back to sealed beams soon.

also the only time its legal to run on sidelights only is when you are in a built up area with streetlights & there is enough light to see safely,

been stoped before when i had my clio & was running about at night on sidelights

I'm thankful my 110 has 'Dim-Dip' (as did the 90 & other 110)

I missed it on the Discovery, that just had the silly level adjuster, but I use it on the Mondeo & Fabia when it's not dark enough for dipped-headlights;
Just turn them onto the lowest adjustment, plenty of non-dazzling light output (& back to normal position when it gets dark)

I have 20w side lights and they don't melt my lenses, it's maybe because i have military glass lenses :lol:

They are bright but as has already been said are great for laning and other such things where dipped lights are too much.

See no point in arguing about if they are good bad or indifferent if it melts the lense you buy a new one, if it blows a fuse you get a new one only costs anything to the owner that does it.

Have fun :twisted:

I've also had 21W sidelight bulbs in for the last 4 or 5 years and none of the lenses (which are the cheapest plastic ones) have melted yet! (though i've smashed a few of them  :lol: )
They are great for that inevitable time (on a series LR it happens!) when your headlights break!

Is it legal to run 21W sidelights ?

I thought they were specified as 5W  :?
