Title: alldrive sockets
Post by: lambert on August 05, 2012, 10:14:40
Hi all.

Have any of you used these new fangled all drive sockets, the ones that look like a spline fitting. The blurb seems to suggest that one rail will fit owt but security fittings, so af, whitworth, metric, torx and spline drive. I ask as some one has used some torx nuts on my floor and also my lower door hinges, I do have some e sockets but not beyond e16 and the hinge ones are like an e18 or 20. I guess a normal 12 point socket would kinda work but I don't want to strip the corners off any more than I have to.

So any experience with these would be welcome. Cheers.

Well having used them I think the expression "how did I survive without theses" is the order of the day. That said I'm not convinced that a 3/8ths drive will handle a 24 mm nut done up tight but time will tell.

I've got a set of the sockets and the spanners in my recovery truck. They seem fine but I've had to be real careful to get the right sized spanner/socket when using them on torq headed bolts.
