Title: Immobiliser needed
Post by: JumboBeef on March 01, 2010, 19:07:06
My 1991 V8 Range Rover needs an immobiliser.  Although we live in the sticks, I got the insurance down from over £320 to £150  by saying it will have an immobiliser fitted.

Any ideas/suggestions on what to fit?  It can be any immobiliser, as long as it is a passive one.

Thanks.

Found a local company who will fit one on my drive for £120.  It is a Thatcham category 2.

Does this sound like a good deal?

On defender I fitted myself, took photos of the install and also guy from local landrover specialists visited mid and after install and produced letter to say the work was carried out to and exceeding industry standards and the insurance company was happy with that. toad cat2 Immobilisers are around 50 quid.

I had ours fitted by GAP, they were pretty good and TBH it's the only thatcham alarm I've had that lasted more than 2 years!

For Thatcham read SCAM, qualilty usually quite poor, features pretty rubbish, what use is it to have an alarm that locks your baby in the car whilst you are putting up the pram

They don't make your car much leass stealable TBH, people only fit them because insewerance companies are so stupid.
