Can i apologise to anybody who has contacted us within the last week regarding the birthday bash that we have not yet got back to but as you can see from the following photos we have had a few problems on the way home from holiday last saturday 8th August sorry if you were on the M5 , someone was watching over us and are really lucky to still be here, we have since found out caravans dont like having 3 tyres and having your head dragged down the M5 out of the sunroof is not much fun either i have had 9 staples in the top of my head and have a couple of bald patches that were not there prior to the accident [-X.
We would like to thank all the fire and rescue, the police and everyone that stopped to help us and free nikki my wife and my mother in law who were trapped in the over turned car.
It was not nice getting back home saturday evening to nothing no car, no clothes (other than what we were wearing), no money and no food as everything was in the caravan but hey ho life goes on and we are all here to tell the story and another adventure for the kids to tell their friends when they get back to school.
As most of us have on our cars ONE LIFE LIVE IT but just be careful :)

Is there anything you need doing? I can get shopping or anything like that? I'll call you tomorrow. Glad to hear that all of you are whole.
Big hugs,
E&I.

You are all lucky people to get out alive Hope your all well (under the circumstances) best of luck Mark
-
Glad you guys are home safe...........
-
Good news that your all safe... though comparing a d2 crash to that of that D3 that fell off the cliff... I think I would have preferred to have been in the D3.....
-
Those pics are a caution to anyone towing a caravan. Your guardian angel was working overtime that day!
-
Glad to hear you're all ok.
-
Wow, Glad to see your ok
:)

Talk about not doing things by halves .... VERY pleased to hear everyone is okay

We went to Sandy Balls in the New Forest on Monday. 50 Miles from home and i had a blowout on the Caravan. Typically on the outside, and i had pulled over as far as poss to change it.
Luckily i insisted on fitting the anti-snake device, and i was only doing 50mph and the Disco was a godsend.
Shook me up pretty bad so i do feel for you. I limped to Clacket lane services to find most of the tread missing from the other tyre too.
Promptly had two new tyres fitted.
-
Blimey Glad to see your all ok after that
-
Hope things get sorted soon mate, glad your all o.k!
-
 Glad to hear you're all OK. I've never been a fan of sunroofs, and I think you've just confirmed it.
All the best to the three of you, and hope you're back on the road soon. GWS.
-
flippin eck  luck was certainly with you that day [-o< i fear a lesser car towing the van and you may well not be typing this up
-
I always find it most odd that various semi-official bodies claim that 4x4s have poor crash safety, yet I've seen photos of several accidents with similar outcomes to this (walking wounded or escaped without a scratch). "Which?" are perhaps the most witless with their habit of giving poor ratings to anything without stability assisting electronics. I know I'd far rather my Disco than any of the shopping trolleys they rate so highly.
Glad everyone's ok, and I hope you're planning to replace it with another Disco!
-
The gods were smiling at you methinks! I've been to fatals that that involved less damage than that!

we also had our 2 children with us jack 4yrs and sara 8yrs they were quite shaken when it happened but soon came to turns with it but the evening.
Well its been over a week now and guess who forgot to phone the doctors to book himself in to have the staples removed  i might just give it a go myself .
Thank you to everyone for there kind words and everyone who has offered help and support over the past week :)
-
im glad your all ok mate.
-
And i thought it couldnt get any worse. After the blow out and sitting round waiting for tyres ect. Got a call today from Nationwide Fraud Squad. Some toerag has cloned my card. Thay picked it up quite quick, but ive now got to wait up to two weeks for a new one.

Geez I'm glad you are all ok
-
Blimey Mike... had no idea that it was such a major accident when we spoke...
Glad to hear you are OK.
I take it you may need some sort of accommodation for the Birthday Bash though - I have a tent that is supposedly an 8 man thing... it has three pods off the central area.
When we use it we tend to use one of the 3 man pods for Niki and I, the other 3 man pod for the kids and the other (supposedly 2 man pod) for the kit 'n rubbishthat we cart around.
Can be available for borrows if you want and happy to drop it over to Billing for you.
All the best
Rob

Crikey, that looks nasty.
First and foremost I'm glad you are all relatively unscathed.
You said 3 wheels, was this a blowout then?

I believe he counted the one on the hitch as it looks to me to only have a single axle.
Good to see you got out relatively unscathed.

Glad to hear you guys are ok, you were very lucky  See you soon ;)
-
have the staples removed  i might just give it a go myself .
:pale: That's horrible.
Glad to hear everyone's fairly OK. That must have been seriously scary. My experience of being upside down in a RRC a couple of years ago was bad enough, yours must have been terrifying.
Am I right in thinking that yours was a twin axle van and that it's a Swift group van in the photo next to the fire engine?
-
Well its definately not one of my top ten to do again ours is the twin axle Lunar the one on the hard shoulder was one of the many kind people that stopped to help not that they had much choice we closed the entire M5 Northbound  we have been lent the use of a caravan for the birthday bash http://www.mud-club.com/forum/index.php/topic,71315.0.html so wish us luck [-o<

Mike,
Been offline for a wee while and just found this. Glad everyone is ok!
I suspect there will be a fair bit of storytelling around the campfire at the bash... 8-[
Don't take yer staples out yerself... you might find yer brain trying to escape!
