Title: Grand Cherokee BCM question
Post by: Bofh on June 26, 2009, 19:53:20
Hi everyone, I have a knackered BCM on my N reg grand cherokee acording to my Jeep mechanic.  I've heard that I can replace the unit as long as it's matched with the serial numbers on the back of the unit.

Can anyone confirm this please, I want to shift the Jeep as it's been sat on the drive for the last 8 weeks doing nothing so I thought I'd sell her on as I think its still worth a few bob as it's LPG converted.

Any advice chaps?

Body control module?

Can't see it interacting with the ecu apart from for the full closure, so as long as the moduel comes from the same spec / age ZG then you should be OK.

Many thanks mate, don't suppose you have any tips on how to remove the old one, I got seriously fedup trying to remove it and now I'm trying to sell it without fixing it I'm so sick of it sitting on the drive.

?  It's located behind the kick panel drivers side isn't it?  Doesn't it just unplug and bolt off?

That's correct, although actually getting the damn thing off nearly drove me mental last week.  I managed to remove about 8 wire clips but was too stressed to manage the few clips right down the end by the bulk head.  It's not an easy job trust me, althoug I think I'll have another go this weekend, finger crossed.

Cheers

Believe it is plug and replace so a s/h unit will do...try trawling the US GC sites such as NAGCA for advice
