Title: Serpentine belt cutting out the AC pump
Post by: Green Jeep on May 21, 2009, 21:48:52
Hi,

I have a 1993 4.0 Cherokee and since the AC isn't worth looking at and I need a new serpentine belt I wondered if I cut not go around it and save the drag?

Any idea's on size and if it is possible? I have tried the belt for my 1993 Wrangler (non AC) but that is way to sort.

Thanks in advance Maf

Why not fit an inline oiler and convert the air con pump to onboard air?

very simple to do.

Already got a air compressor, nice info though, just thought removing the AC pump would remove drag and aid performance, plus I've had a AC pump seize and shred the belt, so since it's no use....

The AC pump is not connected all the time - only when the AC clutch kicks in

Yeah, but it's still dragging, it was an idea from one of the other guys
