Title: V8 wont start, Please Help.
Post by: 300TDi Disco on February 01, 2009, 22:57:07
Firstly i notice when i had the ignition on the rev counter needle would flick from one side to the other and the got lack of power, so i changed the leads  over for some performance silicone ones and now it doesn't start. I then changed the leads back to the original ones and it still doesn't start. I have had the lead from the coil to the head of the engine to check out for a spark and guess what, No Spark. I have changed the coil as i thought the coil had gone down but still no spark. any idea's???? It has a range rover 3.5 v8 engine if it makes any difference. Hope someone can help, Cheers

Sometimes you can damage the guts of the dizzy by pulling the rotor arms off, you need to hold the metal post down with a screwdriver.

I have had a look at it today and i have a cable going straight to the amp but only give a current when ignition is on. and the cable off the amp pack going to the positive on the coil??? (Thinking somethink wrong ere). Am i right in saying that both cable's should go to positive and negative on the coil from the amp pack? Does anyone know how many cables should be coming off the coil? I have: Positive:- Amp pack, rev counter, and fuel cut off relay Negative:fuel cut off relay, Small round condensor which grounds to the body. Does the amp give the coil, power to create a spark?
