Title: cherokee long arm and rear coil conversion
Post by: chuggaman on July 23, 2007, 20:35:47
i have bought myself a 96 4 litre auto.sitting next to my disco it is awfully small.

no its tiny.

i am looking at the long arm kits and the clayton rear coil conversion.does anyone have any experience with dealing with these american dealers?

i like the rustys bolt on long arm setup better than the clayton weld on type.

i also heard a rumour that isuzu trooper axles are made by dana and have the right gearing for the 36s i plan to put on,anyone??

Big questions...need big answers

Yes loads of us Jeepers regularly use 4wd Hardware and Quadratech and they are pretty OK

As for axles Yoda's and I think maybe Ford Explorers may be better suited?...Mik from Rednexs might be able to help..think he occaisinally posts here

Try NAXJA site in the US or over here RockznRutz or J33P.org....

chuggaman,

i know clayton on a personal level,  you will find him honourable and his help will be on going,  i have the clayton on my wrangler and have "as yet" never had a failure.
ring clayton he is very approachable also adam his colleague.  http://www.claytonoffroad.com/

the toyota axle is something mik (at rednexx) has done using the clayton long arm perhaps a call to him could give you some invaluable advice. http://www.mikstan.freeserve.co.uk/

also the ford 8.8 as bishops finger has suggested could be another option. budget is going to be your biggest hurdle.

While I'd love a long-arm on my Cherokee, I'd find it hard to justify spending upwards of 3 or 4 grand on a vehicle that is unibody and so prone to rust.

However, Mik is definitely your man, cus he's got a Clayton longarm XJ on 36s.
