Title: Rear Floor

Ive just bought a 90 and it has a rusty boot floor, does it need to be replaced or will it be okay with just some sealant over the holes?!?
How much would it cost to be repaired approx?

I would leave it in and just over lay it with a sheet of chequerplate

Fine for MOT as its not structural.  Just corrosion between the alu floor and steel chassis.  I would douse the chassis with waxoyl while you can see it through the hole though.

The chassis is a galvanised replaced chassis so dont need anything on it for some time!
I was thinking of using some sealent over the top as i plan to carpet/  put rubber on top so would that be okay??

I would think it would be best to have a permenant waterproof surface between the carpet and the holes, otherwise if water does get in, the carpet will soak it up and the rot will spread mate.

You could probably get away with smearing some silicone sealant on some square pieces of 2mm plate steel and pop riveting them down over the holes for a cheap one, or welding for a slightly more expensive one.

My 90 hasnt got any rear floor now and passed its test.Took it out and just left the crossmembers for the spare wheel to sit on :wink:

thats not corrosion between the floor and the chassis , thats corrosion between the floor cross members and the floor plate.i used tread plate on mine but i bolted it through the old floor down onto some new rear floor cross members , you might want to check these for corrosion. best to get it sorted now before it gets any worse , simply hiding it could prove worse in the long run.
to do it properly though it might be a tub off job.

To be honest I would pop rivet aluminium plate over an aluminium floor, steel plates will compound the problem in 12 months time, as for welding ... you could if you know anyone with an ACDC TIG who is competent at TIG welding thin alloy but a normal welder wont do the job with aluminium.

Personally Id go for the sheet of chequerplate advice, sealed with silicon...job done
