No idea, it depends how easily things come undone.

What makes you think it needs changing?

A recon box will be around the 150-180 quid mark

The hardest part about the swap is getting the drop arm off, this can be a real PITA.

A couple of hours end-to-end is usual, but they can turn into a nightmare due to the prepensity of drop arms and ball joints to stick.

paddocks do the box inc drop arm for 20 quid more than one without

presume its not worth stressing to get the arm out of the old box for 20 quid is it?

Up to you, as it's your money.

I've had drop arms come straight off, and I've spent a couple of hours with a puller / hammer trying to get the arm off.

You can never tell :-)

Do it yourself. Equicar £100 for the box, £5 worth of power steering fluid. I'll even lend you my workshop manual after I've fiddled with the swivels on George (no I still havent done them  ).
