Title: 1.222 ,overdrive and rev counter!

Is anyone out there running 1.222 transfer box+ overdrive on a 300 tdi just wondered how it copes with them? considering going back to the 1.222 gearing but i want to keep the overdrive just want to make sure it's not over kill?? and has anyone got a 1.222 for sale Thanks.. :D

I'm not overly sure that 1.2 gearing works with overdrives, as afaik the overdrive uses the dog teeth, which are missing from the 1.2Q gears, but may be present in the non-q set.

I'll let someone confirm this...

What tyres are you running as the 1.22 + overdrive may kill your cruising speeds if the tyres are too larger dia (32" +).
I did it the other way and put a 1.4:1 box in the Disco as I am running 33" tyres and had no acceleration or top end and if it saw a hill then........

I've a 1.22:1 LT230 transfer box in the garage that you can have for £150 but it'll cost about £65 to get it too you as I live on an island!!  :cry:
It has the cross drilled drive gear but not the Q-gears.

Iam running 265 75 16 I think it might be to higher geared i used to run 1.222 on it's own but what i found was ith the caravan on the back i was mainly stopping in 4th at 60 in 5th at 3000 rpm it was doing 85 though with the overdrive it's doing nearer 90 at 3000 rpm!
