thanks for that, but no help as i called them and this is going to be main dealer only parts cost £500 + fitting and vat total £780.0 ouch.
to be honest i would not own a jeep again. i have had this from new and it has had loads of problems this is the last straw for me.
i love to drive the car and it certainly goes well but its the stupid to serious problems. now that its out of waranty its a concern.
6.5 years ive had jeeps, this is my second jeep. if they ever get the build quality write i would have another, until then i will be looking elsewhere.
problems so far.

water pump
power steering pump
engine oil leek
geer box oil leek
radiator leek
heat sensor
heater under dash twice still not working properly
noise from heater
drivers seat
aircon
memory for mirrors
handbrake
radiator hose rubbing on steering arm
and now its chucking deisal out the presure pump.

it is a good car to drive

Your only a stones throw from Lighthouse in Diss why don't you phone them and see if they know a local decent mechanic?

If they're saying it's a main dealer only part, try one of the suppliers in the states.  Quadratec or 4WD hardware.  Also try Outback Automotive over here, they're good at getting Mopar bits from the states and much cheaper than stealerships.

Sorry to hear about your problems, but on the other hand it's heartening to find it's not just British-built cars which have these problems!  Maybe we should all buy Toyotas.

toyota is my next 4x4 for sure, but i do like driving the jeep ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why cant they build a car that doesnt go wrong.

i had a race away from the traffic lights with a bmw 325 and wasted him he just sat spinning making lots of noise when he came past he was laughing so was my kids ah to have fun on road as well.

i dont think i could go to the green side unless it was a rangerover newish and some one else paid the fuel bill.
Title: high preasure pump
Post by: skeaty on January 13, 2006, 20:12:39
ok up date on the pump jeep want £500. for a new pump + labour around £800. +vat .
the pump is bosch, bosch have service centers. service on my pump including parts(seals) £75.00 + vat.
havent got the bill for putting it back together yet but will up date later.
so just to clear everything up, the pumps are servicable which jeep said they was not.

jeep new pump £500.00
serviced by bosch £75.00

this is a common fault with this high pressure pump which also fitted to mercs.
so a big thanks to bosch.

well ive just been to my mates garage who took the pump off for me,  he told me what to do and i put it back together in 1 hour, simple if you got the tools.
he also didnt charge me, what a fantastic outcome an £800. bill reduced to £75.00.
its not that hard to change a high presure pump.
These main dealer garages certainly know how to charge.
i hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

So.. is your faith restored, or are you still looking towards the far east ?

if i can fix it myself, yep. it is a fantastic motor and i think they look good too.
It is annoying that no one mentioned you could get a pump serviced even scrap yards wanted £250.00 for a second hand one.
as for the far east thats a bigger story we have been excepted to emigrate to australia (just got to sell the house) so toyota rules out there and im looking forward to playing out there.

keep up the good site.
