I have just had a letter from Land Rover Portugal, for a safety recall on early petrol Discoverys and Range Rovers for a problem with petrol tanks cracking, any one else had the same ?
-
HAD MINE DONE 3 MONTHS AGO INCLUDING NEW FUEL PUMP AND NO CHARGE FOR PUMP
-
Do all petrol discos need doing, Should I take mine to a dealer?
-
The main stealer can tell by the chassis number if it's part of the recall.
-
Had mine done and will never ever set foot inside a main stealers ever again. W*****S
-
any idea what years are affected?

I remember something about this being posted before, and seem to remember people getting into problems with aftermarket towbars and tank guards that had to be removed at the OWNERS cost before the free recall could be done.
:x

I popped into my dealer in August, they confirmed it affected my Disco and ordered a new tank....
They are still waiting for it to arrive! looks like demand must be pretty high.
And yes they did say that any tow bar or tank guard would have to be removed, either by me or if by them at normal labour rates, luckily I have neither fitted!
-
what, even an original fitment towbar ??
wonder if you can just get the tank and do it yourself ?

If its a factory fitted type, then its down to them to take off and replace.

I agree they should sort those out themselves, it's more the aftermarket bars and tank protectors they are going to moan about (or charge you for)
I've found the other thread here. (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=8836&highlight=)

my work needed a fuel tank for a disco after a pikey drilled a hole in the bottom, ordered the No for that vehicle & was told didnt have any,BUT we do have a large pile of recall tanks so got one of them sent over from LR,only difference was it had 3 breathers instead of 1
