Title: New PAS box or seal kit?
Post by: stefan on August 05, 2003, 14:27:01
My steering box gushes fluid when I turn the wheel (yes, I know, drive in a straight line), so at some point I'm going to need either a new/reconditioned box or a seal kit, anyone any experience of the latter, or know of a cheap source for complete boxes?

My experience is that if the leak is as bad as it sounds, then it's more than the seals which have gone.  The bottom bearing is probably worn, allowing the drop arm to move...  causing the damage to the seals.   Replacing the seal will be a short-term fix in this case.

I can't recommend a source, since I haven't changed one in a while..  (you watch mine fail at the weekend !)

Hi, I recently had a simliar problem with my 90, a seal kit was purchased and fitted but within 2 weeks it was leaking again, a new box was required.

In the back of LRO/LRE there is a small advert (power steering leaking?) for a company with a London dialling code selling steering boxes for £110 inc VAT, has anyone used them?
