Maybe :-k silly question but am not really much of a mechanic, and was wondering :-k if i brought a "Spring 2" Lift" would that be it and i just got it fitted? or would i have to buy something eles. Thanks :wink:

Usually you'd get extended shocks (if the kit does'nt come with them) and you'd need to get some 50mm longer brake lines.
If you dont change your tyre size that would do it.

Yer it comes with new shocks but not new brake lines. For the brakes lines where would you recomend get some ans what kind am i looking for?
would that be it then for the standerd kit? :-k.

As Jake said.... but what he didn't point out is that standard tyres look silly with a lift. Add some bigger tyres into the equation and your getting there.
After that you'll start looking at underbody protection, then a winch which requires winch bumper and then it just gets out of hand...........

yer thats what we was going to do get some big tyres after then under body protection just wanted to get this lift out of the way. We are just waitng for a light bar coming through as well. Thanks for that :wink:

you planning on doing the fitting yourself? If you arent sure dont tackle the brake lines as they can be a pain in the rear...and theres nothing worse that being unable to complete a job.
If you need a hand im not a million miles away.Hey a few beer tokens and i might even do it for ya

well maybe when it comes to it if you wanted to fit the lift we will give you some dosh. you name your price, if it happens.
we wont do it in case we do something wrong.

hey mate no worries ive fitted a few and am happy to help. Im in Rotherham and should comfortably do it in a day. its getting mighty cold. How long before you want to do it? Ive got to get my rad repaired and back in.
Have you been to the pub meet? Im also a member of the Ncgl have a look on there. Its our pub meet on Sun if you fancy it...it is near Wakefield but one of the lads isnt far from you.

Well am being arghquard but sometime near january and if i do come to ask you to do it i well note you in advance. and oh buger because we already have plans for every sunday.
You dont anything about the buxton and district bonfire and firework weekend, because am trying to find out if the quarrys going to open because we havnt been on there yet. :(bigcry):

Why not head up to the MC pub meet tonight? just off J28 of the M1. This is one of those 'ask 5 people get 5 different answers' type things but it depends on what you want to do with the truck. Have a look at the Blue RRC in my profile, most of the work on it (bar the obviuos engine/LPG) is for the 2" lift. I recon the cost of springs/shocks is about half way, excluding tyres.

I've done two 2" lift conversions, one on a RR and one on a 300 Disco. I've never had any problems with the standard brake hoses, they dont come anywhere near full stretch even with the wheels at maximum drop.
A friend of mine has +3" springs on his Disco, all he did was relocate the brake hose mount at the axle end.
Simply a matter of undoing the bracket, gently bending the metal brake pipe, and fitting some sort of spacer or a bracket to the hose mounting.

It's not the lift that causes the problems it's the extra droop travel from longer shocks. If you don't have that there is no point in doing the lift, you might actualy reduce articulation.

I'm actually looking to do just the same thing. 2" lift on my Disco 1 with springs only. I'm not looking for extra articulation as much as I'd like to make room for bigger tyres in order to get my differentials an inch or two further off the ground. Then I can stop plowing a trench when I drive the deep ruts made by others.
My dealer says I'll be fine keeping the shocks I have now (Bilstein), and that in his experience people don't need them. So it sounds like even with a 2" lift, the stock brake lines will suffice as long as I keep the standard length shocks. Does this sound right?

With standard damper then yes, the brake lines will be ok but if you lift the car and leave the dampers alone you will loose 2 inches of droop travel, this is not good.
I have found though that the standard dampers on sale for the front of the RRC are 2" longer than they should be, not clever for a car with EAS because the damper stop sht espring over-extending.
