Title: p38 diesel missing part??

just been looking at a diesel p38 and theres a bracket with a split edge what looks like somethng has broken off on the n/s chassis rail, towards the back of the engine its a flat piece about 3 inches across, like i say looks like something has broke off, on the other side there is a similar thing holding a heat shield or something on, any ideas please much welcommed.

yes on the diesels t doesnt have a heat shield that side but the V8's have them that side as the exhaust runs both sides

but the plate welded to the chassis has a rough end as though something has broken off it, it looks a bit rough to be standard even for land rover

possibly but i had a look on my dads rangie and tht has the heat shield, cant tell you iff it looks like it has something snapped off it i will have a look in the light tomorrow

thatd be good, seen a p plate 4.6 other day an that didnt have one on, the disel was s reg, dont go out of your way but im just interested to know what it was, cheers
