Hi and welcome to both Shoggy ownership and the forum
Not sure how much or rather what you want to know on the Shogun
Do you have the SWB or the LWB?
A lot of answers have been written to the questions you are going to ask
Some places to look:
My site - http://mudlark.info - loads of pics of what can be done with the shogun off-road, techy stuff - how to change the timing belts, removing starting motor etc.
My forum - http://team.mudlark.info - has other interesting answers, on curing chassis rust to lifting the suspension
You can fit a 35" diameter wheel/tyre combination if you want see http://xpajunoffroad.com for body lifts
Suspension lifts from OME Explorer and Ironman - have a look at http://www.pajerouk.co.uk/club_shop.htm for parts and modding
Or you can get parts from http://www.milneroffroad.com usually by next day carrier

Thanks for that was told jacking it up was going to be a nightmare seems not and quite cheap really it is the 1986 swb 2.3 td. I have heard the alternators are a problem with water being at the bottom can i do anything to solve his do you know

The alternator is a favorite story - often given as a good reason to buy a LR
I still have the original alternator on mine - it has spent a lot of time in water including a 20 minute drowning with it still running fine under water - have a look at the pics on my site for Bush Farm in the 2007 galleries
Though I have heard of people that are on their 8th apparently - still trying to find out what they do with them
Jacking up is not a nightmare - very easy and fairly cheap - though all things cost money.
Body lift can be done in about 3 hours suspension lift about 4 or 5
