Title: Water Dumping
Post by: Yoshi on May 18, 2007, 20:07:15
Well yet again today the rangie dumped its water, it seems to do it 80 miles into a journey.  I dont know where it is doing it, or why, but for some reason maz seems to think its something to do with that top hose that doesnt seem to be taking any water in.  Seems to heat up first, then just dump the water.  But it doesnt over heat, there is no water in the oil, no white froth in the oil or the cap.

But i dont know why its doing it, its getting annoying!

Id get the engine to normal temp on the drive.  The pressure could be finding a small leak in hose or rad.
Is the rad cap on properly?
Let us know how it's going.

It was the thermostat that was faulty, since i have changed that the whole cooling system has been improved.

Maybe airlock somewhere? When i changed the coolant in my '82 it kept over flowing down the overflow pipe and the water would dissappear out of the expansion tank.

Yes that's a possibilty.  Badger's, do you fill the coolant up via the little brass plugon the heater matrix pipe or via the expansion tank?
