Mine have stopped functioning! The passenger side will only work lowering and raising the back, and neither will move forwards or backwards! Tis a bit annoying as very vertically challenged woman (bettyblue22) was last driver so now i have to squeeze in!
Any quick fixes?
-
Know how you feel, similar problems on the passanger seat, drivers seat memory buttons have stopped working so back to manual position changes.
Suspect fixing will invoilve removing the seat and replacing the switch box. :?
-
I dont know if i have a manual way to do it, i dont mind a manual way of doing it, i just wanna be able to breathe while driving, cos am holding me stomach in every time at the moment!
-
keep playing with it forwards and back wards etc just poor con prob
-
Tried that for 3 days now, not a sausage, even for an hours drive we sat there doing it the whole journey.

Just looked in handbook, there are 4x 30a fuses and a relay under the passenger seat,
Also says front door has to be open for them to work.
Dont know if this applies to yours but........

The memory seats are quite complicated as they work with either the driver's door open or with the ignition on and Park engaged.
There are 2 yellow relays beneath the PASENGER's seat that control this, as the paseenger's seat operates with the ignition on thus satisfying one of the conditions.
Anyhoo, there are 2 fuses for each seat, hiding under on eof the seats, Paseenger's again IIRC.
It's also common for the switches to stop working in one direction. I can sometimes recondion them if all else fails.
-
Do i have memory seats then? I have no idea, its just a 3.9 vogue se
-
Sorry, I was reading all the above posts. If you have 2 numbered butons and a small green button then you have memory, if not thenyou eithe rhave blown a fuse or the switch has packed up a little. You can mess around with either the wiring or controll rods to move the seat back using a different switch/motor combination, it's a faff though or you can wire up some new switches somewhere else.
-
thankyouuuuuuuuuuuuu lol
so the fuses should be under the passenger seat?
-
I think so yes, judging by the wiring loom that was with mine I thik the pre-memory ones had a 4 way fusbox under the passenger seat, the driver's side wiring goes under the centre console.
-
OK, will have a looksie tomorrow :D got the new rubber on today so it looks formiddable, do you remember when i tried to get in yours when i dropped off the crane? Its like that again! lol
-
As a thought if it is a switch can you steal one from the Pax seat? That can stay back anyway.
-
If its not the fuses its probably dirty warn contacts.
If you are very very brave you can take the switch to bits and clean the contacts up. Be warned there are many springs and ball bearings that leep out at you. But it can be done I've done both of mine.
Another alternative is to take off the top cover and spray electrical contact cleaner into every orafice of the switch.
-
Well it worked after we jetwashed the inside of the car out this afternoon, just long enough to get the seat back, but now its not on again, so think it could be something to do with mud in the system lol
-
Just had the same problem with my 91 Vogue that I bought off E-bay. The guy said the switch was temperamental so I had no argument when the thing would not work. The switches would only work in one direction or not work at all. Ended up where the seat was all the way back which is kind of annoying. Found a web-blog from the states that had directions on how to take them apart - I tried it and it worked.
It is very fiddly and you need patience, a tray or bowl (due to the springs and balls jumping out) several screw drivers, some tweezers (or I used a small pair of spring loaded long nose pliers), at least one screwdriver with a magnetic end (so that you can position some of the ball bearings) and something to clean the contacts with.
I took the info from the US web site and put it into a word document so if you send your e-mail address I will forward it to you.
It is a pain but its better than paying £110+ for a switch (I only paid £560 for the Rangie!!). If you do it you will also be better off if you find yourself a small patch of rubber as the new switches have a piece with holes only big enough for the stems of the switches to pass through. This is to stop dust and general crap falling into them. Apparently this switch is also fitted to some of the Merc E class cars so if you are looking on e-bay have a look for Merc switches also.
Remember that if you do want to attempt the cleaning of your switch do it on a good surface, with good light, enough tools and without having a drink first!! And one more thing if you do it, Patience my boy, Patience!
Good luck
Mick

I have no patience!! lol, its ok now, its in the position i want it in so it wont need moving for a long time! I am no good with fiddly stuff so will just find some contact cleaner to douse each switch in via spray form!
Cheers anyway though :D

Set it up for you and Pull the fuses  anyone 'borrows' it then it wont work for them and you get it back as you left it
-
LMAO that will work :D although she has been told if she moves the seat again and it gets stuck then she can pay the main dealer to fix it, think she might not move the seats! lol
-
Not so sure about the electric seat but the manula seat tend to recline on their own.
