Post by: landroverkeith on October 12, 2008, 19:37:44
Are the Body Fixings for a sankey easy to source and get hold of?

Weve taken the body of the chassis of my sankey for repair and just about each bolt has snapped

If we are talking about nuts and bolts, you can replace them with newer metric ones, with matching washers, or are the bolts screwed into captive nuts

If you're on about the little 'J' hooks - just heat up some suitable bolts and bend them to suit, then saw the heads off them - its how we do it at work when they take for ever to come through the system.........

Bending a thread will undoubtedly weaken it though, I often find they split from between the threads.

Agreed - hence my use of the word 'bolts' - the bend is at the 'shank' end - hence removing the head, and by suitable I meant long enough shank to incorperate the bend.........

Thanks RRB for forcing that extra information out of me!
