Hi all, my Jeep has just stopped changing gear, it will go into reverse and forward gear but will not change upwards; max speed of 40mph.
The fault light that looks like a gearbox has also come on. There is no dipstick to check the oil for some reason.
Anyone else had any problems or got any ideas as to what the problem is?
Don't want to go to Jeep dealer as they will charge a fortune!
Have got a local garage that will do the work.
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!

i believe it has gone into limp mode............try disconnecting the battery for at least one hour -and then re connect and check, if fault returns you will need to read the codes.

Try here http://www.wjjeeps.com/faultcodes.htm#ERASE.
You can get the OBD codes (via the ignition key sequence described) and then look it up in the table.
I use to have a 2.7CRD - good vehicle except it ate rear diffs every 30k!

Its a Grand thing.....
