Can't wait, love my 109" but was after something with a little more power.
This should do the trick nicely:

Sweet work dude - a bargain! Should have some fun with that!
-
Wahay!! Welcome to the club :D There is nothing quite like the sound of a V8 to make you smile. Ringo will vouch for the sound of mine
-
I wouldn't get your hopes up too much about the performance of the engine. If it's anything like the early One Ten V8s, then it's max output without any restriction will be approx 110bhp. The 109-inch weighs less, so actual performance may only differ ever so slightly.
-
I believe mine's knocking out in excess of 200bhp now  But it still has to haul 2 tons around
The original engine had the restricted Stromberg carbs and I reckon might have managed 90bhp on a good day
The fact that I can cruise at the legal limit now, and not have to plant my foot on the floor to achieve it, is a total revelation
But even at 90bhp it sounded nice :D

just take the restriction plates out then :D
-
Muddy, that is without the restriction plates fitted! They were down tuned and low compression to run on poor quality petrol as well as have a different cam profile to the standard Rover V8.
-
ah well
in that case maybe fit a 3,9 cam and a nice big carb???
-
Yes, and different heads and also I believe different pistons. That way you increase the compression ratio considerably.
-
do it properly and drop a john eales in then 8)
-
rich stop (edit) "peeing" on peoples fire and let the guy enjoy it!
-
Think I should scrap the V8 and chuck my 2,5 NA D in then!!
I'll let you all know how I get on, but going from a Military 109" with a 2.25l I hope I'll notice a difference!!
-
lol!
you know its ripe for a disco 200 come over to some proper fuel :D
-
Congratulations.
Don't listen to the dieselhead sour-grapers. Just listen to their engines and smile sweetly to yourself.
My C-reg V8 is so sweet, even on LPG.

hmm well i think my 200 sounds darn nice with is 3" exhaust :D
doesnt quite rev like a V8 tho :(
-
Well, I've had my 2.25 petrol for years, had a 90 2.5NA for a year or so, therefore a nice V8 was the next logical step!
I dont use it as my daily drive, have a company car for that, so the fuel economy isnt a massive concern. Most important is that extra bit of power and the lovely noise! May even fit an SS exhaust to give it that TVR sound!
-
now your talking 8) :D
how long ill your smoking bor racers then?
-
rich stop (edit) "peeing" on peoples fire and let the guy enjoy it!
I never said I wanted him not to enjoy it. The noise alone makes it quite worthwhile, as well as the torque and power bands.
I just didn't want him getting his hopes up and expecting it to go better than a 200TDi 110...
-
I've been in plenty of V8 Landys and know what to expect!
-
Very good. I hope you enjoy it regardless of what I said above.

in future then just keep it closed and let someone be happy and/or find out for themself ;)
-
I've always enjoyed the V8, even though it never used to set the world alight
The early 110's were, indeed, detuned. As said, for rubbish quality fuel. That way they were far more useful in parts of the world where proper fuel wasn't available...... like the US  It was done to help keep the vehicle as the best 4x4xFar :D Enjoy!
-
So its saturday - are you happy ?
One day i'll have a V8.....
Ringo :)

He's probably still out enjoying the sound of the engine,
I know I took the long way home when I bought my V8
-
Exactly right, I have been out playing - love it already!
-
First time tried this thing on computer! Any way, 3.5 V8 in my 110csw was powerful enough but juicy even on gas, I took it out at Christmas and put a 200tdi in, fuel economy is brilliant but the sound from the SS exhaust and the power I must admit I do miss - the tdi is also a bone shaker!
-
Well, here she is!
Loads of questions about bits I need to do so apologies for the potential over posting I'll be doing soon!
Ref SS exhausts - how much and where from!
-
Looks beltin.
A crackin motor, stick with the V8.
Look forward to seeing you on the field.
Jay

looks nice,
i reckon me and you will keep the forum nice and busy the next couple of month lol :-)
-
I got my V8 110 last year and was slightly daunted by the fact it had more than 4 cylinders and would it be a nightmare to work on. Concern unfounded as they are a lovely engine with plenty of space to work on and parts are cheap and plentiful. I still haven't got mine on the road, but do start it up just to listen every now and again...
Don't worry about the pro's and con's, just enjoy it.
-
That looks sweet - can you record it and somehow put the sound on here ?
In fact, can all V8 owners do it too - we can have a "best sounding V8" competition!
V8moneypits is awesome. when i got to 3 holes all i could hear was this V8 roaring away in a kind of Texas Chainsaw Massacre styley....
Ringo
-
I probably could record it! I'll have a go probably over the weekend and we can start a new thread!
-
can i put my 200 on there

Or maybe it was a sort of 'Texas Suzuki masacre stylee...'
But, of course, I couldn't possibly dissagree with you on the sound
-
SS exhaust from Paddock Motors at matlock, my system came with stainless headers, if you go for this one you will need exhaust wrap plus small bolts to fit to heads as it's fidly, cost last year was £360 del'd.
-
bit out of my budget that! Can you get backbox only from anywhere that makes it sound a bit more meaty?
-
can i put my 200 on there
If it sounds sweet dude - get it on!
How we going to do it ? i will post a question and try and find out......
