I know the real function on this Forum is for food, but; SWMBO can heartily recommend the 'Holiday Inn' (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/lctuk) on St. Nicolas Circle.
The incorporated 'Vermont Restaraunt' serves a good selection of food & offers several special deals per night.
I can recommend it as well, having stayed there once (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=11445).
They will, if requested, serve an excellent continental breakfast at 04:15.

It was a 'spur of the moment' decision to enter this restaraunt, as our sights were aimed elsewhere, but it looked friendly.
Nice friendly staff,
Mushrooms al Forno & Penne al Polo Delia Casa for Joanne, which she enjoyed immensley
An exellent 'New York Chicken' soup starter, & a 'Fiesta di Carne' pizza for me.
Plus the added delights of the wonderful Guild Hall, & Wygstones House on the way back to the Holiday Inn
I'm surprised to see it's a chain, as it has the atmosphere of a one-off.
I would return there.
