mud on the outside of the chassis can be dealt with a pressure washer and a little time, it's the mud/water inside your chassis that is the biggest problem ...
my chassis is about 40 years old and each time i've had to repair it most of the rot has worked from the inside out, i really need to find a pump that'll flood the chassis with thick oils and a way of plugging most of the holes so that the inside gets a decent coat

I heard once of a guy that putting in expanding foam in the chassis would stop mud etc getting in but im a bit doubtfull.

and once it does start to rot you'll not be able to weld repair it due to burning contaminants getting into the weld pool
